Who We Are
Blackthorn of Kent is a bespoke kitchen and joinery company based in Ramsgate, East Kent. Founded by Ben (kitchen designer) and Sean (master cabinet maker), we handcraft custom kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, home bars, and bespoke furniture using sustainably sourced tulipwood and traditional joinery techniques.
With over 30 years of combined experience working with prestigious kitchen manufacturers, we bring expert knowledge and craftsmanship to every project. Our workshop in Ramsgate serves clients throughout Kent, London, and nationwide.
We specialise in creating kitchens for all property types, from period homes with original features to contemporary open-plan spaces. Every piece we make is built to order, designed around how you live, and made to last a lifetime.

Ben brings 18 years of kitchen design experience to Blackthorn of Kent. With a deep understanding of how families use their kitchens, Ben balances beauty with practical function in every project. From initial concept to 3D visualisation, Ben ensures every kitchen works perfectly for its owner.
Sean
Co-Founder & Master Cabinet Maker
Sean is a master craftsman with 18 years of cabinet-making expertise. He oversees every piece that leaves our workshop, ensuring the highest standards of construction. Sean's expertise in traditional joinery, including dovetails and mortise and tenon joints, guarantees furniture that lasts generations.
Our Story
We established Blackthorn of Kent after recognising a gap in the market. After years working for prestigious kitchen manufacturers, we saw that homeowners were often forced to choose between affordable but generic flat-pack kitchens, or expensive luxury brands with opaque pricing.
We offer a third way: genuinely bespoke kitchens handcrafted in our Kent workshop, with transparent pricing that shows exactly where your money goes. No showroom overheads, no sales commission, no hidden costs, just honest craftsmanship at fair prices.
Today, Blackthorn of Kent serves homeowners throughout Kent, London, and beyond. Our portfolio includes everything from compact cottage kitchens to grand period properties, and our reputation has grown through word-of-mouth recommendation from satisfied clients.
