Our workshop is in Ramsgate, and we build every kitchen ourselves from sustainably sourced tulipwood. No sales team. No showroom markup. Just us, making kitchens properly. We make kitchens for all kinds of homes, from period properties with original features to modern open-plan spaces. Everything is built to order, designed around how you live, and made to last. Meet the Team ## Meet Ben and Sean ### Ben Co-Founder & Kitchen Designer Ben handles the design. He's been doing this for 18 years and he'll come to your home, measure up, and work out exactly what you need. From initial ideas to 3D visualisation, Ben makes sure every kitchen works for the people who'll actually use it. ### Sean Co-Founder & Master Cabinet Maker Sean builds it. Every cabinet, every drawer, every detail made by hand in our workshop. With 18 years of cabinet-making under his belt, Sean's expertise in traditional joinery, including dovetails and mortise and tenon joints, means furniture that lasts generations. ## Our Story We started Blackthorn of Kent because we saw a gap. After years working for big kitchen companies, we noticed homeowners were stuck choosing between affordable but generic flat-pack, or expensive brands with unclear pricing. We offer a third way: genuinely handcrafted kitchens built in our Kent workshop, with transparent pricing that shows exactly where your money goes. No showroom overheads, no sales commission, no hidden costs. Just honest craftsmanship at fair prices. We're not trying to be the biggest kitchen company in Kent. We're trying to be the one you'd actually recommend to a friend. How We Work ## Sustainability We believe good design and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. That's why we use sustainable materials for every cabinet we make. **Sustainably sourced tulipwood:** All our doors and frames are crafted from tulipwood sourced from responsibly managed forests. It's durable, has a beautiful grain, and takes paint brilliantly. **Low-impact finishes:** Our finishes and adhesives are chosen for their low environmental impact, which is better for your home and our workshop. **Minimal waste:** Because everything is made to order, we only build what's needed. No overproduction, no warehouse waste. ## Why work with us **Transparent pricing:** We give you clear, detailed quotes with no hidden costs. You'll see exactly what you're paying for, so you can make informed decisions. **Truly bespoke:** Every cabinet is made to measure for your space. No filler panels, no compromises on size, no making do with standard units. Your kitchen is as individual as your home. **Based in Ramsgate:** We're well placed to serve Canterbury, Margate, Folkestone, and all of Kent. We also cover the whole of the UK and can arrange fitting nationwide. **Flexible finishing:** Choose professional hand-painted or sprayed finishes in any colour, or have your cabinets sanded and primed for DIY finishing.
